i tink tat its very gd s'pore government finally opening up 2 ppl hu wan to speak up n talk abt politics.

so s'pore government now say tat speakers corner nt maintained by police bt by nparks, so ppl can feel free 2 speak up more!

Actually, the government requests that people apply for permission beforehand so that they can ensure that the content of the speech is adequate and would not incite any racial/religious riots. Even though Singaporeans (the government inclusive) would like to see a system whereby completely free speech is permitted, it is still of paramount importance to all the citizens that law and order is maintained.
